DOK 2:
The first Israelites traveled form Mesopotamia to Canaan where the lived for about 100 years before they went to Egypt, there they became slaves. Around 1290 BCE a shepherd named Moses led the Israelites in their escape to freedom. This became known as the Exodus. It took them 40 years but the Israelites finally made it back to Canaan (The Promise Land) with the help of their new leader Joshua. When they came back to Canaan they found that their were people living there. They conquered these people and created a calendar and alphabet based off of their ideas.
DOK 3:
There are several things that the Israelites could have done differently. First they could have trusted that God would provide them with the food that they needed to survive. If they put this trust in God then they would have never gone to Egypt in the first place. They could have just stayed in Canaan and never become slaves. They would never have to make the 40 year journey back to Canaan which was occupied by the Canaanites.
The second thing the Israelites could have done differently was they could have taken a shorter path. If they had taken a shorter path they could have made it back before the Canaanites settled in Canaan. And if they did make it back before the Canaanites settled then they would have never had to destroy the walls of Jericho. And they wouldn't of had to share Canaan with the Canaanites they could have just split the land up evenly between the 12 tribes.
The third thing the Israelites could have done differently was they could have left Egypt sooner. They were slaves in Egypt and they had to throw all baby boys into the Nile River. There was no reason for them to stay in Egypt other than the fact that they feared the Pharaoh. He already feared that the Israelites would rebel and take control of Egypt. This means that they could have left Egypt a lot sooner than they did.
