EQ: How did Ancient Greece develop and impact the modern world?
Ancient Greece was a very big place, that was covered 75% of the way with mountains. That means that only 25% of the land was able to be farmed. This and the Greeks being so close to the sea caused them to become very good at sailing. The city in Ancient Greece that impacted the modern world the most was Athens. Athens did many things that impacted the world that we know today, but the most important thing that we get from them is a democracy. The people in Athens believed that the power belonged to the people, and without this idea we may have never even thought about a democracy.
Why is Greece Amazing?
Greece is amazing because without them we wouldn't be where we are today. Ancient Greece had many thing that are important to our life today,like the first philosophers, the first democracy, the first olympics, the first form of art, and the first form of entertainment. These are just some of the many things that we got from Ancient Greece. These are just some of the many things that make Ancient Greece so amazing.

How did geography shape Greek life?
The geography in Ancient Greece caused most of the city-states to be separated. Mycenae was a city located in ancient Greece, it was home to the Mycenaeans. One of the most important people in these city-states was Homer, he wrote a style of poetry known as epics. He is most famous for the Iliad and the Odyssey, in the Iliad he wrote about the Trojan Horse. After the Trojan war a new group of people moved to Ancient Greece, they were known as the Dorians, Greek culture declined under the Dorians. The works of Homer led to the Greeks creating myths or stories about their gods.
How are modern political systems related to Greek City-States?
Greece was separated into city-states which can also be known as a polis. All of the city-states were ruled by one of the three types of governments, an oligarchy, a monarchy, or a democracy. Athens was the birth place of democracy, citizens would meet at the acropolis and speak their mind about important political issues. Sparta was a military state ruled by a tyrant, who took control over the Messenians and renamed them the Helots. The Spartans were in the highest highest class also known as an aristocracy. The Spartans joined with the Athenians to fight in the Persian Wars, they used a strategy called a phalanx to win the Persian Wars.
